Free Spirit Interiors has been transforming spaces since 2003. Owner, Helen Mudie, has eight years of practical experience designing show houses and residential interiors in London, Brighton, the Cotswolds and Cornwall, culminating in a 'What House?' Silver Award and a commendation in the Daily Mail British Homes Awards in 2008 for a sustainable show home in London.
Known by her clients for being friendly, approachable and a good listener, Helen now finds most of her work is with families in changing life stages, helping them to create their ideal homes. She has developed a contemporary style but working with natural materials.
Her work has been featured in Elle Decoration, Homes and Gardens, Evening Standard, The Times, Country Living, Ideal Home and Channel 4 Grand Designs amongst others.
Helen trained in interior design from 1995-2000 at Regent Academy of Fine Arts and also holds a City & Guilds diploma in interior design. Since then, she has continued her training, adding CAD design skills from Inchbald Design School in London and Richmond College, 3-D sketching at Chelsea College of Art and Photoshop at Citylit, Covent Garden.
Helen has a background in phsychology and insight before her interior design training. She has used that experience to develop techniques to really understand her clients and make each design project reflect their unique personal style. Twelve years in business and management and a certificate in project management helps Helen to ensure the smooth implementation of design projects, from single rooms to large houses.

Natalie Flint, Sales & Marketing Director, Rydon:
"Helen fitted out the show apartment for us at Hillside Hub, Stonebridge, London, which has been very well received by both prospective buyers and the media. The show home has helped secure sales at the development, with visitors inevitably expressing surprise that sustainably produced furnishings can be so glamorous. Thanks in part to the show apartment, Hillside Hub won a What House? Award for Best Starter Home this year.'
