Brief
A mid-thirties couple living in a flat in a large Victorian house in London. Their design preferences are both retro and contemporary. Their lifestyle involves much home entertainment. A kitchen design for socialising and entertaining was called for.
Solution
Something different. Cool and contemporary but with the warmth of wood. Retro '70s paper on one wall with co-ordinating paintwork. Dining area to seat 6 with a cool glass table under dimming lights. Sound system wired into kitchen with controls concealed in a cupboard. Central island for food preparation and clearing up, avoiding back-to-guest syndrome.
Plan around the cook - everything to hand: fridge-freezer, utensils, spices, pots and pans close to the cooker. Wet area well planned - sink and dishwasher in the island. Dirty crockery and cutlery goes direct from table to dishwasher. No mess, no fuss. A clean, well-organised and striking kitchen, leaving more time to relax with guests.
